Job Title: Bus Chaperone and Program Assistant

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Bus Chaperone and Program Assistant serves as a chaperone on the Southampton Town bus with East End Special Players (EESP) attending rehearsals every Saturday and other functions as scheduled. On Saturday this includes the first pick up in Flanders and other pickups along the way for rehearsals at the Bridgehampton Senior Center, and return after the program. During the program time, the Bus Chaperone and Program Assistant will assist the artistic director and producer with the rehearsal, helping in various ways with the production. Chaperone duties may also be required for trips to various venues where EESP may perform based on agreed upon schedules.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
The essential function of East End Special Players program is to provide adults with developmental disabilities a safe, pleasurable and enriching experience during the time they are in our care. The goal is to provide a program that encourages the Players to express themselves through theater arts and to increase their sense of self-worth. The essential responsibility of all staff who interact with the Players is to act in accordance with the primary function of the individual. All employees are expected to have an affinity for, and respect for people with disabilities. In this role, all staff will be expected to communicate with the Players in a positive way, assist them with their needs, and empower them to be the best they can be. An interest in Theater is also encouraged.
Working Conditions: Work will be performed on a Town bus and in the community center. The physical demands are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Scope of Authority: Must coordinate with and accept direction from the Artistic Director and Producers. Provide chaperone duties for the participants.
Other: Need to possess strong interpersonal skills, be approachable and responsible; and have good communications skills and work well independently and as part of a team. This position requires discretion, integrity, understanding, and high ethical standards.
